Poney Garments Sdn. Bhd. (PONEY) ventures into nanotechnology and technical textile with NanoTextile Sdn. Bhd. (NANOTEXTILE), says a recent press release.

This partnership represents the first all Malaysian affair and a step ahead in the commercialization of nanotechnology in Malaysia’s textile industry. The launching ceremony of Baby Essential Extra Care, the new range of kids’ wear from this collaboration, was held in conjunction of the opening of PONEY’s new boutique at Central i-City, Shah Alam, which will be PONEY’s biggest concept store in Malaysia.

Also present were, Albert Tan, Founder & CEO of PONEY, Dato’ Dr. Cheng Kok Leong, Chairman of NANOTEXTILE and Dr. Rezal Khairi Ahmad, CEO of NanoMalaysia Bhd.

The parties have expressed readiness to collaborate and to take joint efforts as a response to the demand for technology and functional textile in all garment market segments. NANOTEXTILE aims to promote the technical textile continuously with its broad potential of nanotechnologies.

Whilst the general public perceives apparel as a traditional industry that is no longer competitive, the truth is that there is a wide area of nanotechnology invention which is ready for exploitation and market entry.

Commenting on this partnership, Dr. Thomas Ong, the Chief Executive Officer of NANOTEXTILE responded, “This is an exciting partnership and the interface itself, fashion meets technology, makes the collaboration even more interesting. Our ultimate aim has always been to give our clients a competitive advantage through value-added products using our textile technologies.”

“We believe, this partnership will increase competitive values of Malaysia’s textile industry as a whole, through the greater deployment of technical textile products locally and internationally,” Thomas Ong added.

“It is with great happiness and genuine excitement that we announce the launch of Baby Essential Extra Care collection with anti-bacteria properties,” said Mr. Albert Tan, CEO and founder of PONEY.

“We have always been attentive about children’s well-being and happiness in PONEY. Venturing into nanotechnology-enhanced products is our effort in ensuring care for the little ones. We see this as the starting of an exciting collaboration with NANOTEXTILE with a view not only in current execution but innovative ways to provide enhanced values to our customers. Wanting to pride ourselves as a leading brand and provider of children apparels and related products, we constantly need to deliver innovation and be ahead of the curve” added Mr. Albert Tan, CEO of PONEY.

PONEY now owns more than 35 stores in Malaysia since 1992. We can expect the opening of two more concept stores, similar to this in Central i-City by end of 2019. PONEY targets to open 15 concept stores within 3 years’ time.
