PONEY Garments has ventured into nanotechnology and technical textiles with NanoTextile.
This partnership represents a step ahead in commercialisation of nanotechnology in the country’s textile industry.
The launch of Poney’s Baby Essential Extra Care, the new range of kids’ wear from this collaboration, was held recently in conjunction with the opening of Poney’s boutique at Central i-City, Shah Alam, Poney’s biggest concept store here.
Present at the ceremony were Albert Tan, founder and CEO of Poney, Datuk Dr Cheng Kok Leong, chairman of NanoTextile and Dr Rezal Khairi Ahmad, CEO of NanoMalaysia.
NanoTextile aims to promote the technical textile continuously with its broad potential of nanotechnologies. While the public perceives apparel as a traditional industry that is no longer competitive, the truth is there is a wide area of nanotechnology which is ready for exploitation.
Dr Thomas Ong, CEO of NanoTextile, says this exciting partnership will see fashion meeting technology.
“Our ultimate aim has always been to give our clients a competitive advantage through value-added products using our textile technologies. We believe this partnership will increase the competitive value of Malaysia’s textile industry as a whole, through greater deployment of technical textile products locally and internationally,” says Ong.
Tan, meanwhile, says Poney’s Baby Essential Extra Care collection with antibacterial properties is a reflection of Poney’s commitment to children’s wellbeing and happiness.
“Venturing into na no technology enhanced products is our effort in ensuring care for little ones. We see this as the start of an exciting collaboration. We constantly need to deliver innovation and be ahead of the curve.”
